An interesting and neutral article regarding the renewed attempts to free convicted felons Ramos and Compean appeared in todays San Antonio Express News The article confirms what I have said all along here about the involvement of Ignacio Ramos’ father in law in successfully having this case tried in the court of public opinion which did nothing to help the cause of justice and quit possibly pissed the Federal Court off enough where the jurors and the Court had little sympathy for these two criminals.

UPDATE - DOJ opens investigation into murder of Luis Ramirez

  On Tuesday, Department of Justice (DOJ) Spokeswoman Jamie Hais announced that the FBI and the Criminal Section of the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ have started investigations into the beating death of Ramirez. The opening of these investigations follows reports that local officials inadequately responded to Ramirez’s death. MALDEF has been critical of local authorities for their delayed investigations and for their public disbelief that local teens could have committed such heinous acts. Gladys Limon, of MALDEF’s Los Angeles office, told reporters about the importance of involving federal authorities:

How ironic is it that one of the anti immigrant groups, Americans for Legal Immigration, whose agenda, despite their seemingly innocent name, is to force upon the American public their protectionist, racist and nativist agenda, have allegedly been doing the very thing, they wrongly accuse illegal immigrants of doing, EVADING TAXES! And the trolls that ALIPAC sends forth to spew their hatred around the internet are strangely silent on the subject. Indeed, their website doesn’t mention anything about the situation. How strange!
