Rusty Wade aka “Yoda” to show America the “Truth” about Mexican trucks!

In light of the recent “demonstration” staged in Washington this past week by Transportation secretaries from the U.S and Mexico, which in truth, was a “dog and pony show” as some have labeled it, Rusty Wade took to the airwaves this afternoon on the Trucking Bozo Anti Hispanic Radio hour and laid out his weekend plans to show America the “TRUTH” abut the Mexican demonstration program.
For those of you who have never heard of Rusty Wade, he is the webmaster of the Trucking Bozo interactive group and has his own website at Marystruck.us
I was prepared to hammer his ass on these pages for the comments he made on the radio this evening, which we’ll get to in a while.
But in all fairness, I took an hour to read his discussion forum, some parts in depth, others with a quick look see, and strangely enough, him and I are on the same page on a lot of issues. Especially our shared disdain for Steve Sommers and some of his callers. It also seems that others have tried to destroy Rusty’s reputation and credibility, without success, much in the same way as my critics have tried, but failed to do here.
But this weekend, Rusty plans to be in El Paso (so do I for that matter) and he is going to gather photographic evidence to refute the claims made by the participants of the demonstration on Capital Hill this past week.
But Rusty is afraid to go across the border into Juarez where he would see the real line haul trucks which is the backbone of the Mexico Trucking industry. Instead, he has stated he will stay on the US side and photograph the “REAL” Mexican trucks that will roll when the cameras go home and people’s interest turns to other matters.
What does this mean you might ask? Simply put, Mr Wade intends to take photos of every Mexican shuttle truck he can see. Those in the worst apparent condition will be the target of his lens. It is certain he will ignore the actual line haul rigs he may see on I-10 through El Paso. When I was there the other week, I passed several from a company out of Chihuahua pulling reefers who could stand side by side with any American Owner Operators rig. I am sure these will be ignored.
In other words, Rusty Wade will continue to spread the propaganda and misinformation about the program in the manner other critics have done.
Mr Wade will not take the opportunity to park in the DPS inspection station on Avenue of the Americas next to the Zaragoza bridge and watch, if the station is open, as DPS inspectors visually and sometimes manually inspect each border shuttle that pulls through the station.
Nor will he look around the loop for the roving DPS officers inspecting Mexican shuttle trucks, and line haul rigs, on the side of the road, in random stops.
It is doubtful that Mr Wade will bother to go to the Zaragoza bridge and observe the procedures ICE and CBP conduct as they check each and every truck who enters the US by passing them through passive radiation detectors, the occasional pass through a truck mounted gamma machine that x-rays the box and cab of the rig, nor watch as K-9′s are walked up and down the rows of trucks waiting to clear Customs.
We know Mr Wade will not take the opportunity to drive out to the Santa Teresa crossing and observe operations there.
What Mr. Wade will do, is find a spot to sit and wait for what he considers to be the worst of the worst, in looks, that is, and photograph them.
If Rusty wants photos of true Mexican trucks, he is welcome to take what he wants from this gallery.
But the truth of the matter is, Mexican trucks are exactly like ours. In age and in condition. We have some real crap rigs on the road in the US that should be shut down but they seem to continue to operate.
Mexico line haul trucks are all kept in good mechanical condition. They have to be. With hundreds of miles between major cities in Mexico, a breakdown on the highway is very costly.
Luis Tellez should invite a delegation to Mexico and pick at random, any major Mexican carrier, whether a prospective participant in the program or not, and let them take a look at the trucks, the operation, and then make an informed decision.
“Dog and Pony show” or not, the truck inspected in Washington is representative of the rigs that will be running US highways.
I would have thought that Rusty Wade aka “Rusty” would have more common sense than to pull his own “dog and pony show” to further the lies and exaggerations which have been the focal point of the oppostion. Oh, and did I mention, Rusty has some plan up his sleeve to get this noticed by the AP! Good for him. Then Mexicotrucker.com will really have a platform for rebuttal.
