It’s rare that I write a review about any blog or website, much less publish it, because let’s face it. The Mexico Trucker pretty much stands alone alone the oppostion in the subjects we tackle.

This time it’s an exception (plus being a slow news day). A friend of mine turned me on to A Courtesy Flush , a blog that appears to be a collabrative effort amongst a group of truckers. I suspect though, in reading the posts, it is one guy was a good sense of humor, common sense and multiple personalities. (re: “Our remarkable team).

I went to this site an almost immediately, upon reading the header, was pissed and started to dimiss the whole blog as just another crackpot right wing extremist, but I kept reading and my opinion soon changed. The author of this blog is like the majority of us. The “silent majority” if you will.

This site is dedicated to OTR truckers who don’t defend or adequately represent themselves and are being screwed by politicians, management and special interest groups. Voted #1 best-written trucking blog on the net!

That’s part of the header. I don’t know who voted them best. They are far from that, but it is an interesting read.

Several articles this writer can agree with. For instance, they did a small article about coming to Laredo and my first thought was, “Uh OH, here’s where the crap begins”! Wrong. It was actually informative and had some good advice that I imagine will go right over the heads of the morons who have a hatred for anyone not of their skin color.

And despite all the crap along the border with NAFTA and trucks, everyone is very friendly and accommodating. As with anywhere else, if you want respect, then show respect. And if you are not comfortable speaking Spanish, don’t, everyone here is bilingual, therefore smarter than you. Don’t try to be a smart ass or a redneck. There was one “of these” in the FJ last night, and he made all us of look bad to the “civilians” working and eating there.

They have even converted to XM and have found what others have known for years. XM Rocks.

We are very impressed wiith XM 171 Open Road – the trucking channel. If you get past all the Jesus died for our sins crap, it’s not bad. Unfortunately, it seems that the same 3 drivers are always calling in on all the shows. Also, it really annoying that all the “personalities” have their noses straight up OOIDA’s rear. One driver called in and said he won’t join OOIDA because they have done nothing to change the way company drivers are paid. The response of “it’s not in their charter” ain’t good enough. Going slightly off topic – if OOIDA wants company drivers, it has to start by changing their name.

All in all, it’s a cute blog. It has some semi informative articles, some irreverent humor. A couple of suggestions I would make though and it’s simply one of my “things” I notice. Use SPELL CHECK. Punctuation and grammar need to be improved and a little less profanity (The CB Radio post) We know that craps out there. We don’t need the reminders.

But then, the inevitable stupidity and xenophobia rears it’s ugly head!

Item #10 - A special message to Mexican carriers: stay on your side of the border! I don’t want you in my country. I don’t want your illegal relatives here either. South NAFTA is a bad idea. North NAFTA with Canada is ok.

And my question would be. Why is it alright for “North NAFTA” but not okay for “South NAFTA”! D’uh! Silly me! South NAFTA is little brown people.

Oh, and by the way. The price of the Vueqube is $699.00, out the door guys!
