Question of the day – Why should Mexican carriers share their revenue?

I'll pass on your invitation but thanks for thinking of me. I only post on sites where the issue is relevent and the conversation is cohesive. Your site may rise to those standards in time, but it will take some time. The first thing I would suggest is the use of spell check and proper grammar and punctuation. Good luck.

If Mexico allowed the Busch series into the country, they made an exception. And everything revolves around a little "jingle" in both countries, I think we all would agree. The "jingle" is simply spread a little differently in the U.S. However I have made you out to be is because of your flippant attitude going into this debate. There is no reason to be calling people liars simply because you disagree with them or making comments on a lifestyle that I do not participate in. Why should I, a damned good looking middle age guy with a good income, need to pursue whores in a country where women fall all over themselves for a man who will treat them with respect and not abuse them. The women down here are so damned tired of all the machismo bullshit! The things I edited out contains your comments about whores and liars. Nothing more than that with the exception of the one post where it was so filled with it, I deleted a whole section. Now I am in no way anti American nor anti American trucker. I am against those who use baseless exaggerations of the truth, patently false statements concerning issues where there is proof to the contrary and other devices to get their point out there. Good for you for hastily putting up the little free blog, with all of it's mispellings such. I will keep an eye on it as will an attorney friend of mine. By using my name in public,without my permission, you are holding yourself open to a lawsuit for liable in the future unless you can prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, what you say. So my advice to you would be to be extremely careful. Steve Sommers and others who I criticize by name are public figures and fall outside the laws for liable. Just as with the busch series convoy its about a little jingle, still "illegal" as far as you are concerned, right? I am not, and have never been against mexicans, and I go to mexico every chance I get, and have alot of fun most of the time. You have made me out from the beginning to be a hote monger, and a racist, and gay, all absurd accusations, made by on of the most ignorant people I have ever talked to about the subjects I have TRIED to discuss. I have good news for you, and bad news. the good news is, I am going to refrain from commenting here as best as I can, since you change everything I say anyway. The bad news is, because you are so arrogant, full of hate to americans, and american truckers, (which is very strange by the way), and want to change what we are saying, I am already up and running (in the fetal stage) another place just about like this in STRONG oposition to you and your idiotic way of spewing your fantasies around. At the moment I have kids coming home from school while my oldest is preparing to go to school. I am also receiving emails from reporters in Mexico covering this explosion thing and from others sharing information, and those are more important to respond to at the moment. I did not say ATS has never hauled specialized load into Mexico. Of course they do. I said that the person I spoke with says they do not allow American drivers to cross the border and deliver in Mexico. The person I spoke with says they have cross border agreements with Mexican companies to take their trailers and deliver it to the consignee in Mexico, the same agreement most companies have. But it is not an American driver behind the wheel. Had you spent anytime in this country you would realize your comment about wore out forklifts was at face value ridiculous. Mexico has the same cargo handling capability as the U.S. using much of the same types of equipment. Just another ill disguised put down of the country. Sure ATS has a Mexican division and I am certain you can get all types of promo material from them. SO what's the point? To answer you last two questions and this is a matter of historical fact. Prior to 1982 Mexican trucks were allowed free access to the United States. However, Mexico never allowed a U.S. truck similar reciprocity. So in 1982 a 20 mile commercial zone was established around the border and trucks restricted to that zone. The exception being the 800 or so Mexican motor carriers previously authorized to operate in the United States. After that, no new Mexican carriers were granted permission to operate beyond the commercial zone. No one knows how many of the original 800 or so are still in operation and operating freely in this country. The fact you see a Mexican truck in Kansas City or Scranton Pa. does not necessarily mean it is there illegally. It could very well be one of the legacy carriers. I doubt though that many of them are left though after 25 years, although the authority would not necessarily expire. And as for your last question, I would question the veracity of your statement because once again, Americans are not allowed to work in Mexico unless they are doing a job that no Mexican citizen is qualified for and American truckers are not allowed to cross the borders in their trucks to haul freight beyond the 20 mile Mexican commercial zone. In the case of the Busch Series drivers, I am not surprised they were permitted access. The promotional value and revenue for Mexico City and the government would be a good incentive to allow them access. But if you will look at this Demonstration Program and other trucking issues from both sides of the border, you will see that Mexico is mirroring the same requirements and regulations we are putting on them.

You again did not read my comment correctly on supersized loads very well ats brokered to me for a border drop off. I will try it again, and it will make sense if you dont edit half of my comment out, and change what I am saying. I hauled the load for ats to the border...follow me? okay... now, for the twist. the OWNER, AND PURCHASER of the switchgear bound for monterey, did not want it to be left at the border, for fear of an incompetent hauler damaging, crashing or otherwise causing him any grief. (this load required a sizeable crain, not a worn out forklift, or mexican lumpers. Specialized, heavy, irregular, oversized loads seem to be a hard subject for freight-haulers to understand.) HE HIRED ME to haul it. I did my part with ats getting it to the border. ATS says they have never delivered specialized loads into mexico? you are again lying. anyone can get calenders and the like, showing ats trucks moving astromicaly huge loads into, thru, and otherwise in mexico. no wonder he did not want his name mentioned, if there was such a conversation. What I speak is truth. mexican trucks have been spotted here for years, supposedly an illegal act, right? But you say That you know for fact that I have not trucked into mexico. Why?

I'm sitting at home at the moment after having been here since Friday. I just called the company to see what the freight situation is. We have freight but nothing I want to mess with. Otherwise, freight is slow today. Am I blaming the Mexicans? Hell no! The shuttle trucks are sitting at the border waiting to cross also. Traffic is backed up more than normal. It ain't the Mexican's! It's 9/11.... Extra security and all that crap! We forget the terrorists that attacked us 6 years ago this morning entered the country legally.... But freight is slow today and it ain't because of no damned Mexican trucks!

Truth is Calderon, the Mexican truckers don't want any part of this either if you read the statements from CANACAR. They mention many of the same fears that you and others do. They feel they can't compete against the well funded Mexican carriers and perhaps in some ways their fears are justified. But in the end, I don't see an invasion of Mexican trucks in this country. They have their own transportation needs to address the same as we do. I will mention this again. The fact that freight coming in from Mexico increases year to year. We have freight sitting in Laredo right now and I imagine all along the border waiting for someone to haul it. When the Canadian border was open, amidst all the hype and hysteria of that time, there wasn't a mad rush from the Canadians to come into the United States. And there was much of the fear on the part of the Canadians that since our costs were lower than theirs, our wages lower, that we would come up there and undercut them and put them out of business. That never happened and 15 years later, it all sounds rather silly. Here we are in 2007 and in the same position as the Canadians were in 1992. We fear the unknown thinking that Mexican carriers because of lower wages and other factors will come into the country and put us all out of business. It ain't gonna happen!

Well, heck - if the trucking business in Mexico a wholly, equally, and profitable and worthwhile environment as it is in the US, then why do Mexican truckers feel the need to set their sights on the US? And wouldn't you have any fears in Mexico of Mexican truckers losing jobs to US drivers, Mexican trucking companies losing ground as US trucking companies begin to compete with them on Mexican soil? I suspect you have no such fears, as it IS in fact an unlevel playing field. You are not being wholly forthcoming with the financial aspects to back up your assertions that it is.

The question you asked was laced with references to Mexican whores which have nothing to do with my life here nor anything to do with the conversation. You made mention of hauling super sized loads into Mexico and being robbed by the Federales on your way out. I just got off of the phone with a representative of Anderson Trucking Service in St Cloud who asked not to be named and he stated that they do have through journal service on their trailers with a Mexican carrier but that Anderson Trucking Service does not permit it's drivers to cross the border and operate in Mexico. I also have a call in to John Riggs of ATS International who I imagine will confirm the same thing. You can be taken seriously if you will stick to the issue without the need for personal attacks and snide comments. And also without making claims that are impossible to believe.

No you didn't. I said before Mexico complied with their part of the deal on August 31 and officially opened the borders reciprocally to American trucks, U.S. trucks has never before been legally permitted to travel in Mexico. Except perhaps as our angry friend "trucked over" insists he was allowed to do moving a special high dollar oversized movement to Monterrey. Checking on the possibility of that being allowed now. I see no reason why American firms cannot compete head to head on Mexican soil. The rules are identical for our trucks down here as they are for the Mexican trucks in the U.S. Why could they not compete on an equal basis?

I asked you questions which you edited out. I am not name calling, and being serious. but you dont want to polay fair and give me the knolwedge I thirst for. Rather, you change what I say, and cut out the questions so it apears that I am not contributing to the conversation, which is simply not the case. you actually work as the mexican gonvernment, and their arms do. VERY SAD that I cannot be taken serious by another who claims to be an american trucker.

Did I just hear yet another disparity in trade and commerce? If indeed "American trucks have never been allowed into Mexico with the exception of the Busch Series of NASCAR" then WHERE IS THE RECIPROCITY? If Mexican trucks are to be allowed in the United States, then US trucks MUST also then be allowed in Mexico. If US trucks are NOT allowed in Mexico, then why should we allow Mexican trucks in the United States? Seems you were trying to make a case in the other thread, insisting that Mexican trucking firms' cost of doing business, vis-a-vis taxation, health and benefits for employees, and so on, was on a par with US counterparts. If this is truly the case, then US-based trucking firms should be able to profitably compete with Mexican trucking companies on Mexican soil as well... Or is that NOT the case?

I have finaly gotten one of those coveted home every day jobs. I haul hogs now, but kc is about as close as des moines, and st loius is a hair further. there are about as many illegals here as anywhere else. psf (premium standard farms) whom I move hogs with on a contract, (not a psf driver). they even buss them to and fro the border, as needed within their legal time frames, however all that works. but there are many who are not legal also... WAY TOO MANY OF THEM.

I doubt you have pulled a load into Monterrey since American trucks have never been allowed into Mexico with the exception of the Busch Series of NASCAR. If you in fact did and were caught on your way back to the border and were in fact, relieved of you cash, it wasn't because of the "flash" of your rig but the fact you were in the country illegally. Try another one or prove what you say! What a ridiculous statement to make about the brokers. The company I am leased to hauls freight direct for it's customers. We do use brokers on occasion but rarely. The shipper pays my company the agreed upon rate. My company pays for the cross border processess and pays the Mexican carrier to complete the haul. Reverse that for the Mexican carrier. Brokers! The bane of our existence on both sides of the border! I am sure you can agree to that. Oh, and a question for you. I have hauled extensively from the border also, and on one occasion, took a load into monterey, (when, by the way, on the trip back to the homeland, I was relieved of all my cash, by the policia, very close to the american border... yes, while in my truck. I suppose it was just too flashy and classy for them to miss) anyhow...BROKERS pay the freight, FIRSTLY PAID BY THE PURCHASER, NOT the poor little mexican trucker, giving all the money he made to bring the load to the border, for a spoiled rotten whiney american trucker to haul it, along with the poor little mexican truckers paycheck, away. Its funny... you must think that truckers, who know a thing or two about this business are not reading your far fetched "facts". Mexican truckers do not pay american truckers to deliver mexican originating loads to destinations in the united states. thats is a slanderous thing for you to spray about the american truckers. we are not robbing poor little mexican truckers of their money, when we deliver loads away from the southern border. again...you are a liar.

Hey! We agree on something. My point was exactly that. They find and cultivate the customer and until now are forced to relinquish the cargo at the border and pay the forwarders, the shuttle trucks and the American carrier and be satisfied with the pittance that remains. Perhaps now, they will have the capital to operate on an even field of competition. And no, I do not think they will be cutting rate. All things being equal the expenses will be in line with our and we all know there is a set point where we can make a profit or lose our asses.

Mexican truckers should have the exact same revenues _and_expenses_ that any other US trucker would. No inequities.
