This week’s hot-button topic is NASCAR’s annual trip to Mexico City for a Nationwide Series race.

Sunday will mark the fourth Nationwide Series race held at the 2.518-mile Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez road course. NASCAR regulars have won each event, but the race is always stocked with international drivers and road-course ringers.

NASCAR officials contend the race is a sign of global expansion and interest, while critics contend it’s a drain on the budget for teams to make the hike via caravan across the border to Mexico. Is going to Mexico City still a good idea for NASCAR?
