Murder in the Desert – Closing arguments and Hate Speech

Murder victim of Nicholas Corbett, Javier Dominguez-Rivera, 22 of Morelia Moachocan MexicoIt appears the trial of Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Corbett is in it’s final stages this afternoon in Federal Court in Tucson Arizona.

We’ll have details of the closing arguments later in the day, but from the feeds coming into MT Central, closing arguments are about what is to be expected.

Special Prosecutor and former Attorney General of Arizona Grant Woods in his closing arguments asked jurors tofind Agent Nicholas Corbett guilty of second-degree murder, manslaughter or negligent homicide. Woods told jurors also that the testimony of the three witnesses remains valid and unshaken.

The testimony of the witnesses is validated by forensic evidence that contradicts the defenses version of events.

On the defense side of the closing arguments, Defense attorney Sean Chapman told jurors in Tucson that his client must be acquitted in the fatal shooting of an illegal immigrant because of a tainted investigation. Chapman says investigators failed to collect key evidence, including gloves that Dominguez was wearing and gunshot residue from Corbett. (Well D’uh! Corbett admitted firing the gun, so what difference does a residue test do?)

Chapman, contrary to evidence presented, continues to maintain that witnesses in the case are lying.

The Activists are active
Isabel Garcia, Co Chair of Derechas Humanos Isabel Garcia, cochair of Derechos Humanos, made this statement in front of the memorial to Javier Dominguez Rivera, established by members of Border Action
Ms Garcias comments:

“The US Border Patrol has acted with impunity, murdering people of Mexico!” “We are talking about a poisoned atmosphere against immigrants,” “Today’s racism toward migrants is comparable with the pre-Civil Rights era in the south.” “We are living in really, really, dangerous times. Border agents are murdering and getting away with murder.” “This case is about accountability, this case is about impunity. That is the bottom line.”

I don’t agree with Ms Garcia on all of her positions but this time she seems right on point.

White Supremacist Roy Warden aka Mexican Flag BurnerWhite Supremacist Roy Warden of the Arizona Minutemen and others, protested loudly in front of the Courthouse, harassing family members of the victims and the witnesses.

Warden, no stranger to the Pima County jail, is a local street nobody and Viagra Vigilante who gets his rocks off burning Mexican Flags.

Indeed, the circus is in town once again!

Yeah, it's kinda hard to claim "self defense" when you shoot a guy in the back of the head.
