FMCSA oft controversial Mexican Cross Border Demonstration Program is at a milestone with 30 Mexican carriers participating with 101 trucks enrolled in the program.

Notice was published as required in the Federal Register and the public was given ample time to comment as required by law.

It would seem that Senator Byron Dorgan’s continued attempts to shut down this legal and so far successful program are not stopping qualified Mexican carriers from entering the program.

Of particular interest, I find that ESTEFETA a full service overnight package and Messenger service serving the United States and Mexico, has entered the program. ESTEFETA is similar to UPS and FEDEX, but in my opinion, offers much better service at cheaper rates I’ve used them on occasion and have been very pleased with the service.

Estefeta has added 12 trucks into the program. They are established in the US and will be allowed under existing regulations and laws to continue operations after the Cross Border Program is ended, without regard to any actions by Dorgan and his cronys. This will apply to other participants who have established offices in the US.

OOIDA and The Teamsters seem to be strangely silent on the success of the program, in view of the misinformation campaign they waged in their futile attempt to keep it from happening. And of course, as we predicted, none of the carnage, drunk, drugged and unqualified drivers have appeared on US roadways as Joan Claybrook of Public Citizen proclaimed would happen. More validation for my excellent website? Methinks that is the case! Although, in all fairness, it seems Claybrook has accepted the obvious and moved on to other matters.

Jimmy Hoffa of course, is putting his faith in his Unions endorsement of Obama for President in the mistaken belief that Obama will permanently ban Mexican trucks and ignore our obligations under NAFTA.

How wrong he will find himself come November.
