Laredo Bridge worker suspended for extortion!

A City of Laredo bridge traffic employee was suspended without pay this week for allegedly demanding money from paisanos before allowing them to cross the Colombia-Solidarity International Bridge.The employee is accused of forcing individuals and families to pay about $60 to cross the bridge into Mexico, City Manager Carlos Villarreal said Tuesday.
In cases of wrongdoing on the part of city employees, Villarreal said, “I feel there’s always an ongoing investigation.”
But Villarreal declined to comment on an investigation into this specific incident.
Police have documented complaints from five families, Villarreal said, three of who filed complaints in person while the remaining two were contacted by phone.
