Having some fun on a boring Sunday afternoon

Despite the Mexican Demonstration Program beginning successfully, Public Citizen and it’s “bruja” Joan Claybrook continue to spread the slanderous propaganda that she has become known for. And the more she spread it, the more irrelevant her point of view becomes.

On their website, there is a petition they are asking you to sign.

Stop flow of dangerous Mexico-based trucks

I was appalled to learn that the Bush administration is barreling ahead with a so-called “pilot program” to allow Mexico-based trucking companies to cross into the U.S. well beyond the limited border zone – without guaranteeing the public’s safety. Now I demand that you put a stop to this dangerous folly.

The public is at grave risk. Every year there are 5,000 deaths and 100,000 injuries in collisions with heavy commercial trucks. This pilot program will increase those already breathtaking numbers. The few Mexico-based carriers who have been inspected or subjected to compliance reviews have high rates of vehicle defects, in particular brake defects, as well as HAZMAT violations and even basic failure to possess Mexico’s lax version of a commercial drivers license.

And if we’re ever in a collision with one of these NAFTA trucks, we might be out of luck when it comes time to recover compensation for our injuries. Too many Mexico-based carriers cross into the U.S. without insurance. That means we would have to try our luck in Mexican courts!

You have already demanded basic safety guarantees before any “pilot project” can allow NAFTA trucks in from Mexico, but the Bush administration is flouting the law. Now it is time to demand the next step: put the brakes on the NAFTA trucks pilot and bring this dangerous folly to a screeching halt!

That’s their prepared comments for all of those who can’t come up with an original idea and don’t know how to think for yourselve.

But myself, being educated and as my granddaddy used to day, “somewhat of a little stinker”, and considering that Public Citizen allows you to edit their script, I signed their petition in this manner.

Stop these idiotic morons like Public Citizen and OOIDA from further promoting their lies against the Mexican truckers

I was pleased to learn that the Bush administration is going ahead with the “pilot program” to allow Mexico-based trucking companies to cross into the U.S. well beyond the limited border zone – after guaranteeing the public’s safety. Now I demand that you put a stop to this dangerous folly which these morons such as Public Citizen, OOIDA, The Teamsters and other self interest groups from promoting their campaigns of lies and misinformation

The public is not at risk from these few trucks anymore than they are from American or Canadian Trucks. Every yearPublic Citizen alleges that there are 5,000 deaths and 100,000 injuries in collisions with heavy commercial trucks. This is a number which is suspect since statistics show that injuries and death have decreased proportionately for the past several years. This pilot program will notincrease these already suspect numbers. The few Mexico-based carriers who have been inspected or subjected to compliance reviews have low rates of vehicle defects, in particular brake defects, as well as HAZMAT violations and they do all possess Mexico’s version of a commercial drivers license which is more difficult to obtain than an American equivalent of the American CDL.

You have already demanded basic safety guarantees before any “pilot project” can allow NAFTA trucks in from Mexico, and the Bush administration has complied with the law. Now it is time to demand the next step: put the brakes on Public Citizen and others who are trying to bring a legal program to a halt

And I filled in my personal information and hit the SEND button. And before I could blink, I received a very nice email from a Bob Shull of Public Citizen

With sincere gratitude for your active engagement,
Bob Shull
Public Citizen
I hope it reaches those who it is intended for. I am indeed a little stinker. Oh, and FYI, it works on the Teamsters petition also.
