It’s Easter weekend in Mexico and most of the world, but in Mexico, the Federal Police are out in force keeping the highways safe.
These banners are going up around the border region and the rest of the country advising motorists of the penalties for speeding, driving drunk, using the cell phone while driving and not using your seat belt.
Driving yesterday from Saltillo Coahuila to Laredo Texas and back, the Federales were out there in force. More than I’ve seen in recent years and people were being pulled over.
Here it is folks, by the numbers…..
Speeding - Autos……………$292.00 USD
Speeding - Trucks……………$417.00 USD
No Seat Belt ……………………$104.29 USD
DUI…………………………………$834.29 USD
Using Cell while Driving……..$83.42 USD
Now, consider what the average Mexican worker makes. $2000-$5000 pesos a week.
And OOIDA says there is no law enforcement in Mexico
