Why we need revised CDL standards, and now!

In view of all the comments from those not qualified to make comments about Mexican drivers, I got a good laugh out of this article. This trainer is barely potty trained and has no business even attempting to train anyone else. At best, he has 4 years of heavily supervised OTR experience. Go figure! On that day, according to police in Slidell, LA, Werner trainee Vera Shed drove a 2006 Peterbilt truck through the Slidell Home Depot parking lot. Shed attempted to make a U-turn at the back of the parking lot and head to the back of the building. ….Read More

FMCSA Press Release on Cross Border Program

In accordance with the 2008 omnibus appropriations act, the U.S. Department of Transportation will not establish any new demonstration programs with Mexico. The current cross-border trucking demonstration project – established in September – will continue to operate in a manner that puts safety first, with participating Mexican carriers subject to all safety standards required by the 2008 omnibus bill, while giving U.S. trucking companies new opportunities and U.S. consumers significant savings

Teamsters' Hoffa leads protectionist border rally protesting trucking program

U.S. Department of Transportation spokeswoman Melissa Mazzella-DeLaney, who was at the rally, said union protectionism is the real force behind opposition and that Hoffa does not have the facts to back up his claims of unsafe trucks and drivers.

Editor’s Note: Let’s see! A wop and a rag head! How about that! No mention of a Mexican trucker here! The Trucker – Two California truckers face felony drug charges alleging they had more than a half-ton of marijuana stashed amid a load of fresh tomatoes in their semitrailer truck. Marco Corzo, 54, and Gurmit Singh, 37, co-drivers from Palmdale, Calif., each was charged in La Crosse County Circuit Court with being party to the crime of possession with intent to deliver THC, an active ingredient in marijuana.
