I was looking over the comments posted here today and saw one left by “Genie” that directed me to the Arbitration dispute with Mexico back in 1998, where the panel found in favor of Mexico. In reading the finding of facts in this report , I learned some interesting things about Mexican trucks and their access to the United States I never knew. For instance, did anyone know trucks from Mexico have always been allowed to transit the United States between Mexico and Canada without the need for operating authority or supervision of the FMCSA? (Washington, D.C.) – On Friday, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals denied the emergency injunction filed by the Teamsters, Sierra Club and Public Citizen, saying the petition failed to meet legal hurdles. SAN FRANCISCO—The Bush administration urged a federal appeals court Thursday to let Mexican cargo trucks cross the border and freely travel anywhere in the country, arguing that to do otherwise could strain diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Mexico.The Teamsters Union on Wednesday asked the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to stop the program, which the administration said would go into effect on Sept. 6. SPLC Sues Leading Klan Group over Beating

The Southern Poverty Law Center today filed suit against the nation’s second-largest Klan group and five Klansmen, saying two members were on a recruiting mission for the group in July 2006 when they savagely beat a teenage boy at a county fair in Kentucky.The lawsuit claims that as part of an official recruiting drive organized by the leadership of the Imperial Klans of America (IKA), several members went to the Meade County Fairgrounds in Brandenburg, Ky., to hand out business cards and flyers advertising a “white-only” IKA function.
