The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General is beginning an audit of President Bush’s cross-border trucking program that Congress mandated in the appropriations bill passed in May.
The office says the audit’s objectives will be to determine whether:
Sufficient mechanisms exist to determine whether the project is hurting motor-carrier safety.
