NAFTA attack based on fear

Re: “Offensive Attacks on Trucks – Labor isn’t fighting fair on NAFTA issue,” Wednesday Editorials.

Anyone familiar with the decade-long debate regarding the implementation of cross-border trucking services between Mexico and the United States, as mandated by the North American Free Trade Agreement, recognizes that the latest attempt to block Mexican and U.S. trucks from delivering door-to-door merchandise is based on the politics of fear rather than facts. I commend your editorial, which sheds light on this issue and underscores the need to ensure that Mexico-U.S. trade is a level playing field.

Arturo Sarukhan, Ambassador of Mexico, Washington, D.C.
