The hysteria increases as the hour approaches.

It seems that all concerned are beginning to realize the futility of their efforts to oppose the inevitable and it shows in the resignation in their voices.

But still for some, the need to further spread the hype and hysteria is there.

I was listening to Bill Mack on XM 171 this morning. I’ve listened to this man for years, since his days on WBAP in Dallas and have a lot of respect and admiration for him and his accomplishments, plus the fact he doesn’t go on ridiculous rants like some of the others.

But the virus of disinformation permeats his program also. This morning, some clown called in and after all the pleasantries made these claims.

A friend of his, a Missouri Commercial Vehicle Inspector in Strafford Missouri, pulled over a tractor trailer from California because something didn’t look right about the driver. After discovering the driver was hauling produce with a fraudulent bill of lading, they took the driver in and ran his name through the INS database, and discovered, his name was on a 100 most wanted list of Al Quaida in relation to 9/11.

Anybody see anything wrong with this recounting? Let’s continue. This same driver, and I might add, as lucky as this clown is, he needs to buy as many lottery tickets as he can afford. What are the odds of this happening to one man on one trip…..

This same driver was in Santa Rosa New Mexico and observed a NMDOT officer place a Mexican driver in a truck with U.S. and Mexican base plates, being put out of service for 71 OOS violations. After the officer left, this driver observed this MEXICAN driver get in his truck and continue his trip. The NMDOT officer later told the driver observing this, “There was nothing he could do”.

Now I ask you. What are the two of the things that the opponents squawk about? Safe trucks and terrorism and here this lucky fool allegedly encountered two episodes in one trip.

Only thing is, in calling the Strafford Mo PD, nobody there knew anything about the “Al Quaida” connection. And one would think it would be all over the newspapers in the Ozark foothills. This would be big news for a little hillbilly town. But no, nothing, nada!

Then we have the allegations in Santa Rosa. I’ve been thinking about this all day and for the life of me, I can not think of any manner that a rig could receive 71 OOS violations. There are simply not that many possible through a Level I inspection. Could this be more hype and lies in order to further their agenda? I think it is.

Generally, when a truck is placed OOS at a location other than a scale house, the officer issuing the order, keeps an eye on the rig to make certain it doesn’t move. And what is the clue that both of these stories told on Bill Mack’s Show is B.S.? Well DOT officers generally don’t share with common truck drivers. There is no record of the Al Quiada connection and if this happened in Santa Rosa, the driver would have been locked up. NMDOT and all DOT agencies have the same authority of enforcement over Mexican rigs as they do over Canadian and American carriers. Shame on you Bill Mack for letting this go unchallenged.

I missed Steve Sommers show tonight except for the last hour and it was basically the same pablum. I notice on his site that he has links to 4 Congressmen who are in bed with the Teamsters and support their efforts. PAC money in action. I can’t wait for the 2007 PAC reports to be available to see who OOIDA and the Teamsters have paid off to support their position.

Then we have Dale Sommers, the “Trucking Bozo” reminding us that he considers himself the “Paul Harvey of Trucking Radio”, in you dreams Bozo. But Dale seems resigned to the fact. Although he is covertly promoting violence against the Mexican truckers.

Two guys called me today to remind me that a bullet in a radiator will stop a Mexican truck and the radiators cost $2900.00. How many can they afford.

He went on to say that he wasn’t implying this as he could be held liable, but Bozo, if you are not promoting this, then why in the hell did you even mention the phone calls you allegedly received.

And of course, he is still pushing for American Truckers to block the border. Wonder if Mr. Bozo couldn’t be charged with conspiracy or something if some fools try and take his suggestion.

But the border will be open in 24 hours. The trucks will probably cross at Otay Mesa, and you won’t realize they are Mexican carriers if you are looking for junky smoking rigs. They’ll be as nice as anything you’re driving, as most of the Mexican long haul carriers are.

Best thing to do is sit back and see what happens.

One caller to the Trucking Bozo did have a good suggestion which I’ll take one step further. He was a member of Highway Watch. He said, keep an eye out for these rigs. If you see them violating the law, driving reckless, equipment violations, cargo violations, report them. And I agree. But take it a step further. Don’t restrict yourself to Mexican trucks. Why don’t we do the same and try to clean up the problems in our industry. Why should we be having a number of major truck accidents each day from sheer stupidity.

Something to think about.

What’s wrong? I see you took my posts off really fast…that’s only because you knew they were TRUE! You don’t want anyone seeing the truth do you? That’s alright though…everyone already knows the truth about Mexico…

OH MY! Excuse me! It’s wayyyyyyyy down there at the bottom. I should really put on my glasses…maybe then I could find it. Good thing I don’t drive a truck anymore…would be hard to see out of your broken windshield anyway. So long neighbor!

No Debbie, I unlike other venues, I do not delete posts unless they are spam and my anti-spam measures on this blog are sufficient to where that is rarely necessary.

Actually, everybody knows the truth as they choose to see it. You know, man needs someone to look up to as well as someone to look down on. That is the case here.

Personally, myself and the other estimated 800,000 Americans who choose to make our home here would disagree with your version of the truth.

I understand your comments and appreciate your side. I have also posted a reply to your comments on my website if you or anyone else cares to see it…I will post the site here if they do unless you would like for it to be deleted or if it does not show that is fine also. http://www.freewebs.com/dbarnum is my site. Again…thanks for your comments and I wish all the best…I just feel this is the wrong move for us and opinions are like you know what…we all have one. As for “my version of the truth” I guess we all have one of those too.
