Hoffa: Mexican trucks are disaster for U.S
Aug 31, 2007 General Interest
Jerome is at it again, promoting the rantings of l’il Jimmy Hoffa. And the latest slime to ooze from Jimbos pie hole?
‘This is a conspiracy of big business. They want to erase the borders’
No Jimbo and Jerome. NO THEY DON’T.
You two need to get back on your meds.
Hoffa was on the G. Gordon Liddy radio talk show yesterday ranting about the Mexican trucks of course.
“They want to make it so there’s no regulation. You get in your truck in Monterey, Mexico, and drive to Montreal. You’d have to be on speed to do it,” Hoffa said.
NO JIMBO, THEY DO NOT! ! !
He said corporate interests have decided, “We’re going to run ‘em to death so we can make more money.”
“That’s that this is about,” he told Liddy.
Again Jimbo, NO IT IS NOT! It is about this country keeping it’s word for a change with our closest trading partners.
Hoffa said right now the unregulated and often-unmonitored trucks from Mexico are contained to a zone along the border where they are allowed to be. The test plan set up by the government would erase that limit.
“All we’re asking is that Mexican trucks and truckers meet the same standards as American trucks and drivers,” Hoffa said. He cited the requirements in the United States for commercial drivers’ licenses, drug screening, physical evaluations, hazmat certifications, etc.
Wrong again Dumbo, er, Jimbo! The trucks running the border shuttle are as regulated as the American and Canadian trucks. And if you’ll read the program notes, you’ll realize that the Mexican truckers in the program are expected to meet higher standards than their American cousins.
And the requirements for all the things you mentioned are much more strict for the Mexican truck driver. Haz Mat included although the will be prohibited from hauling it beyond the 20 mile commercial zone.
“It’s a whole process to make sure he’s a safe driver,” he said. But in Mexico, there are no databases of drivers with a history of recklessness and arrest, or even drug testing facilities, he said
Holy shades of Steve Sommers Batman! L’il Jimmy is parroting the same garbage as Steve Sommers and Bubba Bo on the America’s Trucking Network. No databases? If that is the case, how is it that the Federal Highway Police in Mexico can swipe a truckers Licencia Federal into his onboard laptop computer and almost instantaneously, receive the record of the trucker on the screen in the cab of his cruiser? I think the information has to come from a little thingy called a “database”!
“This is kind of a conspiracy of big business,” Hoffa warned, to create a scenario where there are no minimum wage limits and no requirements for safety.
Wrong again Jimbo! The only conspiracy is that of your Teamsters and the rest of your unholy alliance trying to force your viewpoint upon an unsuspecting public with your fear tactics and outright lies.
The program has numerous requirements for safety as you are well aware. And if you are worried about minimum wages, the American truck driver has no minimum wage. Perhaps you should devote your energy to changing that. But oh, I forgot. To do that, we would all have to join your union wouldn’t we. Thanks but no thanks!

Thank you. Your blog is a breath of fresh air. It is very frustrating to keep reading the misinformation and lies about this program and you very nicely debunk the various talking points.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for the kind words. Living in Nuevo Laredo and traveling this wonderful country gives one a fresh and unique perspective of the issue
