FMCSA OIG Report Released

The long awaited OIG assessment of FMCSA concerning the initiation of the Mexican Pilot Truck Program was finally released yesterday and it holds no real surprises.

I have made it availableHERE for those who care to read it and form your own opinion.

Contrary to what OOIDA is saying in their SPECIAL REPORT: OIG says cross-border program still needs work I don’t see where OIG has not signed off on the program. They have suggested two areas of improvement, doing with reporting of convictions and chain of custody of drug tests, but other than that, they seem satisfied with FMCSA response to their suggestions and also the willingness to comply that FMCSA has shown.

More on this later when I have the time. You can also expect to see something about the war of words between Steve Sommers and Mike McConnell. The latter is an interesting development as Steve Sommers has chosen to engage in a battle of the wits coming into the battle with less than half a load of ammo. But as I said, more on this later

  1. When is this ‘war’ between Steve and McConnell? I listen to McConnell once in a while but don’t usually last the entire show. I would think they would be on the same side for the Mex Truck issue.
