Truck Out 2007 - The aftermath

It’s a government conspiracy!!! That’s what the right wing Mexiphobes are claiming over the failure of their “Truck Out”, boycott, call it what you will.

For those of you not familiar,This was the call to action last week, calling on truckers to deliberately break the law in order to give these bigots credibility and further their agenda. Well guess what folks, cooler heads prevailed, common sense and logic ruled the day and these jokers were left with egg on the face.

So their new tactic is of course was to Cry Conspiracy!

TRUCKER’S RALLY PREVENTED FOR MOVING FORWARD

WAS THERE GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE THAT CONSPIRED TO PREVENT THE TRUCKER’S RALLY FROM PROTESTING AT WASHINGTON D.C. CAPITOL AND AROUND THE NATION ?

TODAY, AS OUR TRUCKERS AND CONCERNED CITIZENS LINED UP TO GET ONTO THE D.C. BELTWAY, REPORTS COMING IN HAVE INFORMED US THAT THE TRUCKERS WERE TOLD BY THE D.C. POLICE THAT IF THE TRUCKERS WERE NOT CARRYING A VALID LOAD WITH A PROPER BILL OF LADING AND TRIED TO ACCESS THE D.C. BELTWAY, THEY WOULD BE TICKETED. ALL THE BIG RIG TRAFFIC TRYING TO ACCESS THE D.C. BELTWAY WAS AVERTED AWAY FROM THE BELTWAY.

IF YOU WERE THERE, AND THIS HAPPENED TO YOU, OR YOU WERE TICKETED TODAY ANYWHERE IN OUR NATION FOR TRYING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROTEST, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. PLEASE EMAIL ME IMMEDIATELY AT freedom@saveamericafund.org.

Let’s examine this further distortion of the truth from these right wing bigots.

The Capitol Beltway or I-95/I-495 is a multi-lane controlled access freeway. At NO POINT, do the D.C. Metropolitan Police have jurisdiction over this roadway. On the southern end, the Virginia State Police, and County Police hold jurisdiction and for the rest, once across the Potomac River, the Maryland State Police are in control.

It would be impossible to divert traffic from the Beltway as this is the major north south interstate between Florida and New York.

Now, rules have always been in place restricting truck traffic in D.C. Certainly one is not going to be allowed in a big rig anywhere close to the Capitol. As a matter of fact, Pennsylvania Ave, around the Capitol and the White House is closed to all traffic.

It is amusing to read “TODAY, AS OUR TRUCKERS AND CONCERNED CITIZENS LINED UP TO GET ONTO THE D.C. BELTWAY,” since the Nebraska Rally was canceled due to lack of interest, the Oklahoma City rally produced only a handful of participants (75 I believe the number was) and the “Truckers and Concerned Citizens” (Read that 25 or so truckers with their wives) showed up in Washington to support Stevie Sommers, that they were “LINED UP” to get into D.C. If there was any line to be had, it would have been the normal D.C. rush hour traffic. According to traffic watch reports on XM Radio for the D.C. Metro area, traffic was moving normally with only normal problems and delays.

Nice try folks, but you failed, as well you should! Wouldn’t it be better to expend this energy on matters which will have a direct impact on the lives of American Truckers, such as EOBR and Speed Limiters. That I could support. Not a bunch of idiots with protectionist views and a desire for a white Amerika!
